This is CT273 I believe. They also have recently restored DT668 (2-8-2) and have had CK124 (2-6-2T) operational for a number of years.
Very Cool! A big Pacific steam locomotive.
Glad to see other countries are keeping there history alive.
Also they have three Lima shays that are operational on the Alishan Forestry Line (numbers 25,26,31). There are two former sugar cane 0-6-0T’s operational. Many of the branch lines are very scenic.
I doubt if it’s a “big” Pacific, the track gauge in Tiawan is 42".
It’s a wonder a U.S. sub didn’t sink it.
Stephen is correct - it’s not a big Pacifc. CT273 has a long narrow boiler and high drivers. It should be able to run with the traffic on the main lines fairly easy and pull a decent length train whereas the other two operable steam locomotives are slower.
