Jarrell's Show Me Something for December 2025

Welcome to Jarrell’s Show Me Something, the thread where a request for a photo is made and anyone that fulfills that request is in line to make the next request. Please restrict photos to models and not prototypes, unless you are showing the exact prototype of the model you are showing off. Enjoy!

Bonus points for Christmas related pics this month.

Someone please start us off.

  1. My wife bought me this one Christmas and it was quite unexpected out of the blue along with three boxes of Walther’s code 83 track and four #5 Walther’s turnouts. She told me to get going on a layout as I had said I wanted to get back into the hobby. The boy’s at PWRS helped her out.

Another MRR Christmas present, please.

How about this PRR 2-4-2? My aunt gave it to me last year. The drivetrain was completely frozen up, so I took it all apart, cleaned everything, lubed it, and put it back together. The old Lionel’s now one of my best runners!

More model railroad Christmas presents, please.

Just so you don’t think I’m only into Lionel

More gift trains please!

Model Railroad equipment you received as holiday, birthday or other occasion gift?

While not the actual box I received, this was the train set waiting for me under the Christmas tree sometime around 1984 or so.

I’ve done a lot with trains since then, having had more layouts than I can count due to parents divorcing and the umpteen moves that followed because of that. To this day, I’ve never had as much fun with a model train as I had with what this set became on that first 4x8 sheet of plywood.

Any other model railroad presents out there?

I got this caboose last year from a son-in-law for Christmas:

Please show me another caboose.

This was a Christmas present for me, way back when.

Here’s a double. I picked up the CN N5c a few years back to compliment the CN GP-7 I got for Christmas 1973.

More cabins, crummies, hearses, hacks and cabooseseseseseses please!

More bringing up the rear, please.

Four in a row and two down below. Four cabeese and a pair of observation cars that is.

Since riding in the last seat on a roller coaster train is the best place to ride, let’s stay in the rear!

Here’s the rear of the Union Pacific City of Los Angeles:

Please show me another rear end of a train.

Here’s a streamlined Wabash caboose, based off one in my local railroad museum.

Show me whatever you want!

I really like that–it captures the unique look of the prototype.
Whatever I want, huh?
How about this year’s Christmas train display at the museum open house?

More Christmas setups, please.
