None Smoking Ken and Dirk is barking.

Evening folks,

J.R. yeah it ain’t my Birthday its Mr. Braums, HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jimmy.

I had to look up that story, happened in Tom’s River, NJ

I used to go to school there when I lived on the beach in Spring Lake, fun fact Mary Higgins Clark lived bout two blocks back from us.

Weather peoples are calling for SLEET Tuesday here in Louisiana, anyone have an idea what these people do when they here the words, snow, ice, sleet, freezing rain, they act like it’s a friggin white out on Donner Pass! It doesn’t even get cold enough here to stay around it melts as soon as it hits the ground.

If it get below 60° people start breaking out parkas and stuff. Kid you not saw a guy wearing a fur lined parka the other day.

If they close work over a little sleet I’m gonna be ticked.

Well that’s all, have a good night guys!

.

Not sure why the rail tops look rusted.

.

That looks to be a fairly active line. That section of rail leads to a Georgia Power Plant near Sargent, Georgia, and there were dozens of hopper cars staged just a few hundred yards from where I took that picture.

.

I would have loved to get a picture of the rail operations in the plant, but there was an intimidating fence and a bunch of No Trespassing signs.

Good morning. It’s cold, windy, and snowing here. 17°, with a high of 21 forecast today. I hate to think of what January may bring. I can see why so many of my neighbors move to Arizona for the next several months.

I lived in New Orleans. Years ago we got rain, followed by freezing weather. The news on TV and radio constantly said to be careful going over bridges. Do not try to stop or hit the brakes on the ice.

You guessed it. For hours, on the far side of every bridge there was a mess of cars facing every direction.

When we moved north, one night in our first winter my wife woke our family up at 2:00 a.m. and we all went out into the street – it had started snowing. My daughters were running around yelling – it was their first snow. I’m sure the neighbors we woke up thought we were nuts.

Have a good day, everyone.

Morning all.

I had a pretyy good Birthday yesterday. Worked a train show as a displayer of T-Trak. Plus I got a couple things I needed layout wise. I got a dvd with cab rides of my local prototype. Hard yo believe how much the east end of the wheeling has improved since 1998- date of the monessen junction flyer train.

I alsoshare the date with a sad event- the sinking of the edmund Fitzgerald in the great lakes. For anyone younger than I- Gordon Lightfoot wrote and plays an amazing song about it.

Hope all is well with everyone

Good Afternoon!

Coffee and a handful of chocolate chip cookies to munch on, Zoe, please!

We had the first sn*w of the season this morning! Not much more than a sprinkle, but I was surprized to see it. I am not yet prepared for Winter.

I wrote an email to the real estate agent in Denmark with a couple of questions regarding the legal procedures required for EU-citizens to by property in Denmark and to the state of the thatched roof. If the roof requires a complete refurbishment, that would be a deal breaker! No answer yet, but I hope to hear something from him in the next couple of days. If not, that would remove him from my list with whom I´d be prepared to do business. To this moment, I am not overly optimistic.

A good one to all of you!

.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your day.

.

Mine is coming up in a couple of months. I stopped putting my age in my signature line. Years fly by too fast now and irt seems like I was updating it all the time.

Happy birthday, Jimmy! [bday]

The Diner might be in Georgia this month, but if you’re stuck in a snowy clime like I am, Chloe and Zoe are serving up hot cocoa to warm your bones. Enjoy!

That looks good Steve, I think I’ll have one. I might as well have a piece of kringle to go with it. [(-D]

Happy brithday Jimmy.

Mike.

Thanks, Steven O. - that´s soul food for me today. I sure need it!

Guys - only 44 days until Christmas - time to think about the presents for your loved ones, so get your credit card out and go for it! I´ll have it easy this year, just like the in the past years, there won´t be any presents for us, but I may donate some of my railroad stuff to someone in need.

Edit: I got top of the page, so the cookies to go with Steven´s hot chocolate are on me!

Jimmy you mean this?

.

I’ll take one too Steve-O, thank you.

.

The diner might be in Georgia, but it was 39 degrees this morning, and supposed to get down to 25 degrees tonight in Atlanta, with precipitation predicted…

.

I need to keep warm!

.

.

My wife’s family has a great rule for Christmas prsents. They never give any presents to adults. It is amazing how much more fun that makes the holiday, and we all have more fun.

We are getting almost a foot of snow in the next couple days, but I am in shorts and loading pellets for the pellet stove into the basement.

Here’s a nod to our veterans today:

Aaaaaarrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhh!!!

Ahem. Sorry! My son and I just spent almost 3 hours watching the feed online from the NYC Veteran’s Day Parade because my Granddaughter (a seventh grader) is playing piccollo in the Waterloo, NY High School Band marching in the parade. Most of the parade was just background for interviews with “important” people who I could care less about listening too (they all had basically the same thing to say…). Lots of ads for this and that so we got only bits and pieces of the parade. FINALLY!!! We see the Waterloo, NY High School Band just approaching the Main Stand!!! YES!!! …They, break for 3 or 4 minutes of commercials… Duh!

We got to see just part of the front row (Flutes) before they went to commercial, no piccolos. When they come back there was another 6 or so seconds of the band as they had just passed the stand. No granddaughter on camera! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! This would have been something to have as a great memory in my old mind. Bummer! I believe only six 7th. graders made the High School marching band to fill out positions for the parade. She had only had the piccollo for two weeks before she auditioned (She is a flute player) so we were big time proud of her.

Not a happy camper, this old grandfather isn’t happy! Granddaughter will be getting on the bus for the ride home probably in a few minutes and should arrive back in Waterloo around 10PM.

Would have been nice to at least get a quick view of her in the band… We could have jumped up and down and screamed “YES!!!” Oh well, I’m still very, very proud of her. She is turning into a wonderful, sweet young lady!

When I was in 5th grade, in 1978, my school’s band was selected to perform in Liberty Square in Walt Disney World. My Grandmother had a winter condominium in Orlando, and she came out to film (on 8mm) the event.

.

When she had the film developed, she found out there was a light leak in her camera, and the film was all ruined.

.

There is no record of my being there performing in Walt Disney World. I played the flute in elementary school.

This was the 100th Veterans Day Parade. The odds are pretty good that someone somewhere recorded the entire parade and will upload

Yep!!! One of the parents that went got a decent video of the band as they passed the reviewing stand… She was on the end of the second row of the band! All is well with the world, and Grandpa is happy! The clip was uploaded to U-Bloob. Only problem is I don’t use the site. I did join a few years back and had a bad experience there and decided to end my involvement with it. My DiL is going to see if the parent that uploaded it has it on her phone and can send it to her.

Had dinner tonight out at my son’s house and watched the idiot box for a couple hours.

Thanks Robert!

Huh?

I Googled U-Bloob and nothing came up. Are they still in existence?

Just curious.

Thanks, Ed

Same here Ed. I did find that bloob is short for blue berries. Nothing for U-bloob. [*-)]
