Jeffrey´s Trackside Diner - April 2015

Evening Dinners

Flo, when you have time, I will have a [B] If the Buick Guy shows up, give him a [B] as well.

Ray Never said I was not! [swg] My normal down load is a about 1 to 3 gigs. That one was 1 Terabite, sure cleaned out my pipes.

Gary Good luck with the snakes. Sparkie and my wife found a Garder Snake in the front yard last week. Sue just went nuts, I felt a bad about killing it, I know they do good. It was the only way to shut up the wife.[sigh]

Ulrich Good to see you on the site again, but I bet you are happier being able to see the sight! [Y]

Work Front Fire Marshell came by today to inspect the store. Told me “I have never seen the store look this good”! Not a single violation, when Dave was in charge there where normally 1 to 3.

Our Wearhouse Manager stop by today as well. Rob also said he never seen the store look better. Not that it counts, he is at the same leve as me, but it makes a person feel better when something nice is said.

Store was slow but I was still busy all day. Big stuff is done till I rearange the floor layout. But there are so many small things that needs to be done. I am stiff finding stupid stuff, suffed under beds that are set up?

Listening to Acoustic Alchemy, it is Postive Thinking. Will be asking Ray (I think it is Ray) or others in the next few days on the best way to clean Audiophile gear. I lost the left channel last year and have just to plain felt like messing with it. Speaker still works when hooked to the Right channel. So it is either the Carver Pre Amp, Adcom GFS-6 or the Adcom 555 Amp. Pretty sure it a drity RCA plug.

Later, Ken

Will catch up on posts soon. Had two wisdom teeth pulled today. Made the Dentist sweat with the lower one. It didn’t want to leave me. Well, back to bed and an ice pack. Good Night! [C):-)] Rob

Hey diners,

I was researching the orange M&M trailers used by the New Haven. They were mostly around late 1940s to early 1951 or 1952. I also looked up the yellow NYC logo with silver trailer and only found in late 1950s early 1960s but would it be around in 1957? Before I get them.

The pressure of making this layout is taking it’s toll. I’m starting to lose it. I been trying to model the New York Central for 15 years. This was before BNSF, Union Pacific and Conrail. I just can’t believe I just can’t start it without being disappointed.

jovial

PRONUNCIATION:
(JOH-vee-uhl) http://wordsmith.org/words/jovial.mp3

MEANING:
adjective: Cheerful; good-humored.

ETYMOLOGY:
From Latin jovialis (of Jupiter), from Jov- (Jupiter). The word Jupiter is from Latin Jovis pater (father Jove). The planet Jupiter is named after the Roman god Jupiter and those born under the influence of this planet were supposed to be good-humored. Ultimately from the Indo-European root dyeu- (to shine) that is also the source of diva, divine, Jupiter, Jove, July, Zeus, and Sanskrit deva (god). Earliest documented use: 1590.

USAGE:
The mood on the tour had gone from jovial and light to brutal inside an hour.”

Good Afternoon!

Just a short visit, as we will be heading for Petra´s aunt in a few moments.

Right now, the weather seems to be fair - it´s sunny, but cold. I hope it´ll stay that way until we return.

Galaxy - “Quod licet Jovis, non licet bovis”, meaning “What Jupiter is allowed to do, is not permiited to oxen”. That´s why the likes of you and I have no importance in the game of world politics [swg]

I´ll be back later!

Happy Friday. I scarcely notice the day of the week anymore, and I have to glance at my ancient Casio to remind myself.

I’ll be busy for a few days. My daughter is going to Florida just to say hi to her grandparents, so I’ll be taking her to the airport on Saturday. She and my wife will be returning on Wednesday. So, I’ve got 10 weeks of my own mess all over the house to clean up before they get back. Mostly, it’s just all the mail, so no big deal. I’m going north for a couple more days of skiing. It’s Parrot Head Weekend, the traditional end-of-season party before they start shutting down the lifts. This year, with abundant snow they’ve promised to stay open until May 1st, but there’s less terrain every day, fewer lifts and the mushy snow is tough to ski in. Maybe, maybe not.

I picked up some Tichy Bettendorf trucks and some detail parts at my LHS yesterday, so I’ve got projects when I come back. After all these years, I’m still occasionally converting old cars from my teenage years to Kadees and metal wheels.

Alas, the last of the snow will probably depart and the frost will come out of the ground, so I’ll also be assigned to field work by the returning boss. At the same time, though, I should be able to get out on my bicycle and get back to the part of losing weight that involves more than just deprivation.

Galaxy, offer them 14K for the lot. You’ve got nothing to lose, and you’ll at least find out where their real price point is.

The last friday for lent or Good Friday for those who believe. (Nothing personal)

Just another bowl of Cream of Wheat for me. Lousy soft food diet. First meal when it is over–Smashburger.

The stitches come out today. Counting the minutes.

Hope you get better soonest!!! [angel]

====================================

Good Afternoon.

Post Good Friday feasting here. We do this more for our convenience sake…Sunday will be very busy here… [:-^]

Chloe…I’ll just have a coffee black …ummm…who put the pepper in my coffee?

I haven´t sunk my teeth into a juicy burger for along time. I will have to ask Petra to put that on the menue again!

Slowly getting ready for bed. It was a sad day today - Petra´s aunt is really in a bad shape. We stayed with her not more than 30 minutes. When we arrived, she was in bed, half asleep. She hardly could say hello, but her eyes smiled again. Both Petra and I had tears in our eyes when we left.

Well, I´d better go now - CU tomorrow and have a good night!

I’ll join Richard and have a bowl of cream of wheat.

Has been about 24 hours now since the two wisdom teeth were extracted. Healing well I think. Still have to do farm chores, so will just need to be extra careful and take my time.

Healing thoughts for those in need. Take care all.

Cheers! [C):-)] Rob

Afternoon folks!

Chloe, I’ll have a tall glass of lemonade please. Yep, almost that warm here in the Finger lakes Region… Currently 64°F outside. Sun is peeking out from behind some clouds as well.

I have been busy catching up on many things I needed to get done. Did my grocery shopping, picked up a couple Rxs at the Pharmacy, stopped at the Value Center for some ant bait and wasp spray. Gassed up the PiP so it can make it to Canandaigua and back without getting an electric charge while I’m there on Easter. Got home and my next door neighbor was wandering around our properties trying to find their cat again… Yep, she made it through the night and since it is a nice day, they let her back outside figuring she would stay right by the house. The old girl always loved being outside. She wandered off again… Several of us in the neighborhood have been keeping an eye out for her but we think she has wandered off to find a place to die… She got held and cuddled for several hours last night and appeared not to be in pain, just very weak, but… Cats can cover up their not feeling good.

[color=red]Ulrich[/color], I will keep you and yours in my prayers!

Actually was able to dig some parsnips today! Will get a pailfull later this evening as well. Guess what I will be having for dinner!?!

Catch you all later!

73

Thanks. I believe I’ll have another beer.

Ulrich, if her eyes were smiling that’s a good sign, at least for now. A few years back, I directed the ambulance to the home of a neighbor. I saw him as they wheeled himout, and there was fear in his eyes. He knew his cancer had gotten the better of him. He died the next day, I think. May she pass with a smile in her eyes.

Actually, Wednesday was the last day of Lent. Thursday, Friday and Saturday constitute the “Tridium”.

No matter how you count Lent, you will NEVER come up with 40 days.

ROAR

Hello Railfans! Flo, my usaul in a togo cup please. And whats on the dessert cart tonight?

My first post from my temporary digs. I always look forward to the next month’s Diner. Nice job on the open.

Heir Ulrich - I could be called a night owl as well. Either by lifestyle (i work at night) or insomnia too. Meaning im usually up when you and Galaxy are (im on the right coast too). Some of us have to keep the world spining thru the night, right?

Though as of late i have been on the day shift. Hope it doesnt stay like this. Maybe other late shifters could take the duty and give you two a break.

Quite sure where i end up will be day shift as well. Not looking forward to that, but the railfanning possibilities are 100 fold! Hard to take pics at night. Why does everything have to be a sacrifice???

Hope everyone is doing well! Will post later as i can.

Cheers!
Douglas

well, the first of the furnace estimates is in… not bad since it is about the same cost as the furnace was 4-5 years ago. Adding A/C of course about doubles it for a Trane. And duct cleaning will add $695. They do offer 3 years 0 interest financing, so that may be option we just have to take. If I pulled every penny we had, I might could pay for the furnace alone. We can always add air. The box will be there for it.

We will see what the other two come up with, but I am running out of “reputable” dealers who do residential in the area too. There are a few others, but really the do commerical. The Yelp phone book lists 29 but 20 of them are the same dealer, different ads!

ah well, IF we do it, we should do the central A/c this time too, and the 36 month 0 interest financing is under threat as the fed is looking to raise interest rates. It could mean about a car payment for us, but we can add money down to reduce the payment.

so that about it. Have a restful night.

Fri. 87 Sat. 81 Sun.73

I’ve only got a few hours of being 71 left.

Today we stuffed bullitins for Sundays two Easter services in the big tent. 18,000 bullitins sermon notes and a tithe envelope inside held in place with a ballpoint pen. Shepherd always includes a pen with Easter bullitins. People collect them. A lot of volinteers mostly seniors and we were done in a couple of hours. The Easter bullitins are slick cardboard about 9“ square.

I have a cold but its a mild one.

Good morning Railfans! Flo - its a bit chilly out there this AM so how about some hot chocolate?
