Good Afternoon,
Next 3 days are supposed to be 95F or so. Far too hot for this time of year.
John, nice photo of a Piliated. We get them regularly in our yard. They go for a log we have hanging with holes in it stuffed with suet.
Nothing else new, just trying to stay cool.
CN Charlie
John, great pictute of a pileated woodpecker! They’re fairly common in my area, but still exciting to see them.
Evening Diners,
Norwalk is playing North Polk HS tonight just JV1 and Varsity!
Aside from that, I’m keeping Bobbie off the forum until he can control himself after what happened last week, He got involved with some underaged drinking at a grad party and it didnt end well so im in charge at the moment of watching his stuff and keeping him offline until my mother allows him back online, my mom found out yesterday through that seniors parents so it will be a while until he returns maybe a few months
evening didn’t get shopping rain was heavy at times did not get to train room to do some benchwork
Good for your mother! You can be thankful you have a mother who cares enough to take a stand against your brother’s behavior. She is doing the right thing!
I’m glad I do, @York1!
I even managed to make mothers day extra special because shes done so much for me in the last 2 years especially last week when the robins died
Hi Flo’, please could I have a late night mug of Ovaltine, thank you.
The Dunbar Cement Plant, operated by Tarmac, is just a few miles farther north to me, along the East Coast Mainline (ECML) and is right next to the North Sea coastline.
The plant sources the main raw material of Limestone from its own quarry and is both Road and Rail-served.
In this view, north is to the left and east to the top.
The Quarry and Plant are separated by the ECML, running between them.
The Track closest to the sea is the ‘Down’ line, which carries Trains heading away from London, north towards Edinburgh.
The ‘Up’ line is farthest from the sea (closest to the A1) and runs from left to right - heading south towards London.
These running directions are strictly observed and very often govern the positioning of Turnouts, so that there are as few ‘Facing’ Points, as possible.
The north and south ends of the Plant show a good deal of Railway Sidings and I can watch the passing Trains from my backyard.
They are nearly always hauled by the fabulous EMD Class 66 Locos.
At weekends, whenever Permanent-way (MOW) work is being carried-out between Berwick-Upon-Tweed and Edinburgh, the Tarmac sidings are often occupied by P-way Trains.
I have done design work (as a Contractor) on this site, but the job didn’t go too well and I was unable to manage a visit around the Rail facilities
Of course, now that I am retired - I don’t have the time anymore!
Paul.
Well, grass is cut and I also ended up going after some blackberries that had popped up way down back. Get’em early and the job is easier.
Walked to the mailbox which is 600 metres away and there were two women sleeping in the middle of the intersection. Now it is a country road and we are somewhat out in the middle of nowhere, how they ended up there? RCMP were called and long story short is they were two U.S. citizens high on meth who got lost and wandered over the border trying to walk home. The RCMP were going to drive them down to the official crossing and turn them over to the Washington State Police who will take them the rest of the way home.
This is what the border looks like near our house, we are three miles North of the border, but they do quite often get as far as us.
WE NEED A WALL! AND THE AMERICANS ARE GOING TO PAY FOR IT!!! That’s the standing joke around here.
My neighbour brought me over a couple of bottles of really nice wine for keeping an eye on his place while he went to Taiwan for 3 months. He has Parkinson’s and went home looking for a miracle cure. He did not get it and came home worse than when he left. He is the nicest guy you could ever meet. He is a chemical engineer and lived in 43 countries. He is fascinating to listen to.
Think I’ll park myself on the patio with a glass of wine and rest up for the hockey game.
All the best to all.
Good afternoon Diners. A coffee on the go please, Brunhilda.
After a stressful time wondering if the birthday party would go well, we slept well last night.
At Yeovil Railway Centre
Good morning
Two more days of unseasonable heat, then cooling off with some possible rain we need. Storms are likely on Thursday.
We certainly need rain up north, as one forest fire is now three. It’s too windy, let alone spreading faster, the wind takes ambers and seeds them elsewhere.
We are so deeply saddened for our friends, who sold thier house in Lakeville, retiring to a beautiful cabin in Two Harbors. They had to evacuate yesterday as one of the fire’s is getting to close.
Thanks for that John, some humor was needed this morning. We seen three Pileated’s up at Judy’s mom’s house when we were up there. Only one stopped long enough for a good visual.
Why dontcha have that one favorite Golden of yours do that for you again Brent? While you relax on the porch sipping some Red, and watch
Well, I’m gonna go look for something train related to edit in. Fresh out here.
Have a great Taco Tuesday ya’ll
TF

BATMAN, Yes Indeed looks Exhausting
Teagan, Bobbie, Violet, and my parents all say hello!
I’m currently ehh, My dad intentionally tried spying on me. I’m currently unsure if I should even stay with him tbh.
Good morning Diners.
Black coffee and a bran muffin, heated with butter please (my standard order at Tims as it happens).
About sore backs, saw our new Dr. this morning, an interesting chap from Tripoli, so that he could arrange for me to see a physiotherapist. That’s the protocol with Nova Scotia Health. He has also sent across to our local pharmacy for a stronger pain med. It will be interesting to see what effect it has.
With any luck I may get back to tree production later today.
ehh? Not familiar…
Hey all,
Been very busy here but I’m hoping to get my train table top moved to the new support frame this weekend. Once that’s complete I’ll be in a position to start laying roadbed.
Morning again diners, Bacon, Egg and Cheese Crossant and a Coffee please, Chloe
Forgot Breakfast!
I Made an updated version of the EMD/NLW SD40MACHF-3DM, I originally made for @Bigguy511, I might put on the SRHX or GTLX roster or even MTRX
The meaning of each reporting mark (if you’re unsure on what they mean):
SRHX - Southern Heartland Railway Corp. [SRHX]
GTLX - Grand Trunk Leasing Company LLC. [GTLX]
MTRX - MidTrans Passenger Rail Corp. [MTRX]
I can make anyone a locomotive of their choice for their fantasy railroad if needed just let me know and ill get to work!
Good morning from the land of sunshine where it is 14c.
Yep, fire season is well under way here as well, though we only have 30 fires burning as of this morning in the Province. Snow packs are at 71% of normal which has an impact. A couple of nephews are smoke jumpers, we always are thinking of them. I use to help my Uncle drive supplies into the base camps when I was young up in the Kootenay Lake area. Hard sweaty work, but good pay for those that want to get ahead in life. Beats city wages by a mile.
Bigguy511, hope everything is OK with you. Hard to read between the lines as to what is going on. Pick up the phone and get help if needed, don’t hesitate.
Think I’ll take the axe to the patio and pick a few tunes before the contractors show up. I think it is electrical day today.
All the best to all.
