A Coffee with 3 Shots of expresso to go please Flo,
I made a very Interesting decision last night regarding the drawings I’ve done, and I’m making the switch to 1:18! There are more options, and it’s worth the challenge!
Good morning from wiener roast central. Only 11c which will help the fire situation.
Gabe, you may have a future as a graphic artist, keep up the good work.
I also miss Tom and his steady guidance and good judgement with the forums.
I once tried making HO scale lumber from various types of wood by ripping very thin slices with the radial arm saw. The whole experiment was quite successful and did not take much time at all. I cut the slices into dimensional lumber with with an exacto blade which also was an easy process.
The boss has a bunch of visitors in today so once they show up I will hit the trail for a couple of hours. Not in the mood for shop talk today.
We are going to see our daughter and family.
Celebrate two birthdays
Help extend our granddaughter’s 0 gauge garden railway another 30 or 40 feet.
With all our grandchildren, have a running session on Sunday.
Morning! I’ll take some coffee please. Ran some wood in Drama yesterday, for about 2 hours straight. Looks like a friend might even be joining me! Looks like Robotics is gonna start today, with Tech Week in November and April, the final weeks before the Plays we’re putting on where we stay until 9PM every day…Good thing I’m practically nocturnal.
Doing some more work on the smith shop. I’ve basically made a Model Kit at this point. It’s gonna be split into roughly 6 sections, where the Crossbeams are. The floors, Walls and roof total 62 parts, which may have more sub parts depending on how easy my schoolwork is today.
Gabe, Your IACR livery almost reminds me of something… (Thanks for the Template)
One of the Trains threads was about Amtrak’s food service.
This was the way it used to be! It was a different time when the railroads lost money on the passenger trains, just to have bragging rights about running the best service.
It’s because back then not just railroads but all companies in general took pride in themselves. They didn’t just want to make the most money but to be the best or at least look the part. Image was everything. We need to bring that back.
Unlike some I welcome the Trains guys here to the Model Railroader side. They’re bringing lively conversations to a sometimes stodgy hobby culture. I may not always agree with them on their views but man, them threads are never boring.
Morning everyone, Relax day of the week yesterday. Gonna work on the Smith Shop today and this weekend. It’s coming along quite nicely. Almost finished the roofing. Also, I have a program that requires a USB on my keyring to be inserted to use my PC.
Hi Chris, I’d have to say I’m quite a bit of a fan of Cascade Green myself as well too, if nobody noticed
That Orange color on your Corvette aint to shabby either!
A post awhile back mentioned nonsence. I kinda miss it!
Lion was the King of nonsence and never a boring day with some of his posts. My favorite of all times was “The Bay Gull and The Beagle”. Now that was a good one that busted my gut
I’ve always had time for that sort of nonsence
The New Haven RR was an exception–they seemed to loose money on everything else but their food service, and that was because of alcohol. When you got on a parlor car, you were asked for your drink order. At GCT there were people by then entrances selling custom made drinks, complete with bags of ice and a shaker. Commuter trains beyond Stamford in rush hour featured either a surplus lounge car (including their two boat-tailed observation cars) repurposed as bar cars, or they would flip over a couple of seats and create an ersatz bar in a coach. The Merchants Limited even had a wine steward.
And the Nathan Hale, which was a 21 car commuter train when it left GCT at 6:05 PM until New Haven, had 2 bar cars. And the reason many people were taking a 6:05 train was that they had a drink before they even got on the train. Even in Metro North days, the New Haven line trains going beyond Stamford had bar cars.
