JMRI track type for storage boxes

Trying to use JMRI OperationsPro to manage “off layout” (aka storage boxes) for cars that will not fit on layout track but need to be included in building trains for layout operations. JMRI suggest that they should be called yards that can then be use to build trains on staging tracks on actual layout. Other variations of yards, spurs, staging and Classification/Interchange tracks can be used but each type has its own rules and limits.

If you are a OpertionsPro user and also use off layout storage for your cars, what types of tracks do you use for the storage boxes as well as the type of track you use on the layout to build trains?

I have 2 roll around storage cabinets with 5 drawers in each. I labeled the carts as A & B and the drawers as 1 through 5. Then in JMRI I assigned them to my Chicago yard as track A-1, B-2 etc. This is in addition to the track storage I have on the wall above the actual staging tracks.

So you label your carts and boxes as yards in JMRI? What type of track do you use to build trains?
