Well, I reckon I am gonna WAIT …for the Postman, as there was an order placed!!!
However, I do doubt that I will cut up a GE AC unit to collect & put a ‘box fan’ into the blower air duct like in the 3rd link, although worth modelling, I wonder why it is there??
My new unit, will probably get peppered with detail parts, ditchlights, & some IC&E custom decals (sorry)…
Hey, these won the race to market, I can’t let my Illini railfans down!!!
Those units are in fact old DM&E/IC&E units that we no longer wanted or needed repair. This company bought those from us. Far as I know 6415 “City Of Garner” is still in service.
These three units BHP Billiton 3078 to 3080 are rebuilt SP SD40R units that were intended for use by IC&E but were rejected and replaced by different units as not being SD40-2 type but rebuilt SD40 with dash 2 electrics. They were passed to GECX (GE rebuilt them in San Luis Potosi Mexico) but sold to BHPB to meet an urgent need for motive power. There were seventeen others painted in the orange and grey, also sold by BLI as a model. But the unit numbered 6415 was not the same unit sold to IC&E as 6415.
I have one, it arrived Wednesday… but I haven’t test run it yet. The handrails are exceptionally fine. I also have a BLI blue BHP AC6000 and two limited edition Bachmann units (another SD40-2 numbered 3096 and a unique Australian CM40-8M 5630).
Thanks guys, appreciate the Clarification, good to know!
Mine came Thursday, but was Signature Required, so I do not have it, because I work elsewhere.
