K-LINE Berkshire problem....again?

HI GIZ,
Took the Bershire to the repair shop got it back still the same situation. It will not go faster at all now, I have lots of heat building up in the main gears that come come down from the can motor to the worm gear, to the drive gears. I can not pull anything with it. I tried calling K-line, no answer. Is there anywhere I can get this engine fixed or find replacement parts. I guess now that this has happened I won’t go for the K-line blowouts.

GIZ,
I was just on a site called DAVIS Electronics from Milford OHIO.
Anybody use them? They do fix trains.
JIM BARRETT is the main man there.
How bout it my OHIO BROTHERS?

Laz: Buckeye is very familiar with them. He may be able to tell you more ! I talked to them not to long ago & they have about 6 repair guys altogether. They were very nice on the phone, said they have lots of repair parts. Boy, I would give them a call !

Thanks JOHN.
I knew I can count on my OHIO BROTHERS.

You’re welcome Laz ! They are, or maybe, were, a K-line super store, & I asked them about a problem with a TMCC eng. & another MTH diesel that has TMCC in it & they said they could take care of it. I was really impressed on the phone with them. Hope you make out OK !

Laz - I don’t believe Jim Barrett is with them since he is now part of the OGR mag. I do believe that they have a very good repair shop.

tom

I will call em today.

Laz,
I just looked at this post. I was just in Davis Trains in Milford, OH last week. If anybody can fix it, they can fix it. Joe Davis, the owner has a photo of my layout on his bulletin board.as an example of one of his customer’s layouts.

I have had only one repair done by them and it was done perfectly. Davis started out repairing TVs and Stereos a long time ago. They carry G, O, S, HO, N and Wooden Trains. I have told the Chief that when he gets to Cincinnati, where us Ohio boys will watch him like a hawk, his escorted trip will include the Davis Train Store so he can help the Ohio economy.[:D]

I’d be interested to see how Davis does with your train, Laz. I contacted them last week about repairing my Lionel El Capitan FT deisel that has a F-N-R problem. They told me that a new board was needed and that the El Capitan has been a poor performer with a lot of them in need of the same fix. I’m just a little hesitant about shipping it through the mail.

Jim

I’m calling today and will let you GIZ know.
JIM, I already shipped UPS to Lionel No Problem as long as you pack it right.
Will get there in aday or two.

Called up Davis electronics. They told me probably the motor is shot. Sending it out tomorrow to get there Monday then they will see. Thanks GIZ.

GIZ,
Got a call from Davis Electronics and Steve told me the motor was shorting out and was going to try and find the problem. There is a 7-10 week turn around period there thats how much work they have. Though YUZ GIZ would want to know?

My Dad was at Davis Trains sometime ago and said the place is huge, and a very friendly staff.Sota sounds like the problem my youngest son had with his Lionel GP-38 .It started out good, then started to loose power.Crazy thing seems to be doing better, but nothing was done to it.I think you done the right thing sending your engine to Davis Laz [2c].

Yes, they must have quite a bit of work backlog because my Protosound 2 conversion took about a month longer than expected. But it was a first-class job and I’m sure you will be happy with their repair on your Berk.

Joel

Thanks GIZ for the support.
Heard nothing but good things about DA GIZ at DAVIS ELECTRONICS.
