While running my Mikado in cruise, first time it ever really got tested, I experienced one anomally. But afterwards it ran up and down the grade with no further problems.
The one problem happened when the loco was well past the turnout heading up the grade, some of the passenger cars were still going thru the turnout, when all at once it went into reverse. Could arcing by one of the cars on the turnout have caused a signal issue giving the loco a false signal? That was the one and only problem and it has got me befuddled (no age cracks).
Doug,
Now this is really going to sound bizarre ! But, we did have an earthquake last night at 6:38 pm. Possible that movement may have caused a interupt at that time? If nothing else maybe you will get a little chuckle from this thought.
Shucks, I thought I felt the earth move but I I still had my shoes on !
I think that during the earthquake, you bumped one of the Cab-1 buttons. [:D]
I initially had problems with K-Line CC as I was building my layout. This is one of the reasons I switched to MTH engines. My TMCC engines K-Line without cruise control had no problems whatsoever; however, my cruise control ones would not work in the same locations that the regular ones would. They are all TMCC. It seems that the cruise control (at least K-Lines) were more sensitive to TMCC signal interference than the non cruise control. Usually when they lost the signal they would stop as designed (famous blinkling lights etc); however, in two places on my layout the cruise control engines would stop and start in the other direction without any input from the hand controller. This behavior stopped when I installed an earth ground (wire connected to a water pipe in the house). What is probably happening in your case is that the TMCC signal is getting messed up by the track below or above it. Try an earth ground to get normal behavior.
