I took my Kato AC4400CW apart for a tune up, and now that I have lubed it and done everything on the inside that I wanted to do, i am ready to put it back together, after an hour of trying to put back together, I got frustrated and stoped before I got so mad I would break it, so now, i must breeak down and ask for help.
i need help putting my Kato BNSF AC4400CW back together.
What I have seen on other models is that it is possible to reverse the light bars. This will keep the shell from going all the way on. You may want to check to see if this is your problem.
I agree, that kato ac4400cw can be a pain to put back together, I have the excact same model from Kato except mines is undecorated. Before I airbrush my models, I pull them apart to see what I’m going to cover or remove. Things like the headlight, the nose, or the windows, anyway when I was done inspecting the shell, I went to reassemble the shell back on to the frame. It was alittle hard to aline & then I realized it was on backwards. THE NEXT DAY! So I pulled it off, turned it around and played with shell until it grabbed. Note the rear part of the shell will snap in first, the front can be alittle tricky, but try to have patience.
thank you zxb1, thanks to you I was able to put my engine back together, really really fast, first try after reading you poist and in like 5 seconds. now that my engine has sat apart for so long, about a week, some of the parts have walked off in cluding the coupler box and coupler box screws, so i need new ones of those. where do I get those?
You can go with kadee couplers, which number I’m not sure as of yet. Because I’m trying to finish up on a switcher I just started, my Kato ac4400cw is my next project. I believe with the kadee coupler, you recieve the coupler along with the box. Like I said I’m not sure which coupler number, You can ask your local hobby supplier or post that question on this site. Hopefully this will help ! But believe me the couplers along with the coupler box is no biggie .
You can order them, go to your local hobby shop, they may have extra’s lying around or try a hardware store. You will eventually find them, just make sure the ones you get fit properly. And are not to big also don’t over tighten. Good luck!
