kato double crossover

Please help. I have a kato double crossover on my layout. After experiencing shorting problems I was told to add a feeder at all four corners of the switch. After doing this I’m still having problems.

Sounds like you have a reverse loop somewhere. You should have directions on how to depower the frogs, if you do that and then power each corner then I would say you have a problem solved.

what are these frogs you speak of. I have no directions for depowering them. Is this information available somewhere?

I don’t use kato track but the bachman track that I have used in the past had a wire that connected to the frog to power it if you had a short wheelbase loco. The frog is the junction point of where the tracks diverge. Or in this case where the all meet in the middle. Look at a regular turnout and you will see a piece right at the point where the tracks go their seperate ways, that is the frog. Go to katos website and see if there is any information on depowering the frog.

It is possible that there is something else that is wrong, too. I have one of the these X-'s on my little layout and have had absolutely no trouble with it. Kato has a good product and is usually “bullet proof” as I have heard it called.
