Well … give us the particulars. How do you like it?

I love it. It is an SD40. CP rail. It is so good. It runs really nice. Nice brite headlites.[:p][:D][:)][8D]

Kato is the dam best locos around i got over 50 and more coming.

I just bought the Kato F3 Santa Fe ABA and UP F3 AB sets. They’re outstanding!
They look and run great! You really can’t go wrong with any Kato purchase.

Nothing touches Kato in running quality! Smooth power, no jurking when on grades, just great…
I’ve had to much trouble with Atlas, Athearn, P2k’s…they look great but Poor drives…
I’m waiting for the new Kato AC4000 BNSF… coming in April…

i’d like to get some Kato locomotives but i can’t find any Geeps. does Kato make GP locomotives?

im a total KATO man…like CSXNS i have well over 50 of them…and love every one…LOL…as for the nice bright headlights OPRR…well the guys at the RR Club i belong to call my BC Rail set of SD40-2s the Blue Light Special

and to Hawks…yes…they make in HO the GP35. Dats it. the only other 4 motors they make in HO are the Alco RS2 and the EMD NW2.

go to www.katousa.com you can check out everything they have on there…plus there are some great photos in the Customer Photo Gallery

Ain’t quality nice?! [:D]

I wish Kato would produce their GP50 in HO. I love the GP35. My Atlas units run great as well, never had a problem.

one of the best engines made. bachmann spectrum are not bad either.

Katos are superb. The only brand that comes “neck & neck” with Kato is Stewart Hobbies. It’s like GE and EMD!

The drives on both these brands are super quiet, smooth and draws so few amps. For those of us that like operating at protype speeds, both of these have no trouble crawling at 1 to 2 mph with no noise. These engines are excellent DCC candidates.

I’m not putting down Athearn, Proto, or Spectrum as they are also good durable products. Kato & Stewart Hobbies are the “Rolls Royces” in their class.

Most of your good Model Railroad shops have a test track where customers are allowed to compare brands. See if your favorite dealer offers this, and go for it!
