Kato light issue

Hello

Im in the process of changing all my kato ho scale locos over to a white to yellow bulb and replacing the factory bulbs for a more realistic look. So i took both the bulbs out of my sd40-2 and replaced them with NCE bulbs part number #524-218E. The problem is now the bulbs do not work. Can something please help me?

are they bulbs or LED’s? if bulbs may need to be 1.5 volt and not 12 volts?? if LED’s, you may have the polarity wrong??
