Kato Morning Daylight cars

Hello!

I got my Morning Daylight train from Kato a couple of weeks ago.

I have mounted the lightning kit in the cars and there is a lot of flickering! I have two possible causes:

  1. bad contact to the rails and
  2. bad contact between the cars pickup and the light assembly.
It seems that the second reason is most common because in the articulated cars the light is flickering different in the two(three) cars.

Am I the only one that have this problem? Is there a good solution to my problem?

Regards

Assuming that you’re talking about the Kato N-scale Morning Daylight set, your track and wheels must be absolutely spotless to prevent the lights in passenger cars from flickering. Weight added to the cars may help by giving the wheels firmer contact with the rail, but due to the small size that may not be feasible.

The only passenger car lighting I have ever seen in HO scale that doesn’t flicker is Rapido’s system because they use batteries. Con-Cor’s Pioneer Zephyr set uses interconnecting wires between coaches and every truck picks up power, but even with that there is still an occasional flicker unless the track and wheels are immaculate.
