I have a couple of the Kato SD80MAC’s and they seem to operate better on a 22" radius.Because of the length of this locomotive and the wheel base, they require an 18" radius but operte much better on 22" radius.
I don’t think it would work on a 9" radius ,simply because of the lenght of the locomotive.
Hope this helps,and good luck.

9 Inches? in N scale?
That is the same at 18" in HO aint it? Boy you N scalers are stingy on radius.
Make that table 22" in radius and enjoy those big long engines.
We must be talking about N-scale…yes? Even so, that is a radius somewhat below the designed minimum for that model, surely. More problematic yet it will be if your track laying skills are not well developed and you have minor sections with tighter curves than the minimums. So, it seems that you need to re-think your track plan.
