i recently saw 2 brand new KCS locos with red yellow and black they were numbered in the 4000’s is this the Original paint scheme from the 40’s or a new design based on the old one kinda like the green & orange BNSF
It’s a revamp by the same guy who put the Warbonnets back on the SF.
It is based on the old Southern Belle Passenger train, also the name of t=the scheme. There’s an article on it in a seperate article on the KCS Southern Belle Buisness train in the Trains March 08. Page 27
One freight unit in the article is numbered 3997. It’s pretty, isn’t it? We see them alot slinging thorough Indy on point of the Schneider Express
Yeah, I see the Southern Belle ACes a couple of times on the UP line that goes through my city. They really are beautiful locomotives.
Where is the Southern belle train at today i heard it will be running on csx tracks sunday?
To the extent that KCS Chairman Haverty is responsible for the new and very attractive Kansas City Southern locomotive paint scheme, he is to be congratulated.
A couple of times last year my travels took me to the southeast side of Council Bluffs, Iowa. On more than one occasion I saw a whole string of what appeared to be brand-spankin’-new Kansas City Southern ACF covered hoppers parked by a grain elevator. Each car was painted in that very attractive grey and black color scheme with red and yellow accents. The cars were clean, the paint was shiny, but they couldn’t have been real - NO GRAFFITI!
Awesome Paint Job!!!
