KCS receives new ES44ACs
Including KCSM, KCS rosters 160 ES44AC locomotives, numbered 4650-4809.
KCS’s ES44ACs are beautiful engines. We actually passed no. 4705 on a BNSF freight when our Santa Fe 3751 excursion left Williams AZ on the way back to California in May - a great sight way out west!.
The KCS truly knows how to “dress up” the paint scheme.
The soft grey, and formally white paint treatment appeared to need a blood transfusion .
Pride is best shown with bright colors.

They also roster 143 SD70ACE locomotives numbered 3997-4139, again including KCSM.
Although the rather angular and “boxy” carboady structure of the new generation GE ES-44ACs leaves something to desire in terms of aesthetics, the KCS paint-scheme is really stunning and dresses these units up very nicely.
