Kitchener Train Show and Cambridge Doubleheaders Tour 2010

Hello fellow Model Railroaders.

I was just wondering if any readers of this forum are planning to participate or attend these upcomings events.

Getting back into model railroading and looking to make new contacts.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

I will definitely be going to both events. They are a highlight of the spring. There are many good layouts on the tour and the people are wonderful to talk to. Only issue is that it is impossible to see them all. So pick your top 10 and enjoy.

Frank

PS: A lot of people from quite a distance come to this event as well.

I will be going to the Kitchener train show again this year I think its one of the best in this area of Ontario. Ron

Hello everybody,

welcome to the train forum Ron. yes the Kitchener show is a great show but also the Double header Tour is great. Many wonderful layouts and people to see and talk to.

Also would like to bump this post here back to the front in case people in the area do not know about it. Here is the web site http://www.trainweb.org/doubleheaders/dhsite.htm

Frank

I’ll be there tomorrow for sure!

Doubleheaders Home Layout is on Saturday www.doubleheaders.org

Kitchener Train and Hobby Show is on Sunday www.kitchenertrainshow.blogspot.com

The Doubleheaders Tour is well worth the drive. I’ve done it a couple times and had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. I might go to the Kitchener show Sunday if it’s raining out.

I went on the Doubleheaders Tour today and found it quite interesting. Outside of the Kitchener Train Show it is the first time I’ve seen a layout since I was a kid.

I saw things I liked and some things that I want to avoid when I actually start building my own layout (please don’t think I am saying you were wrong, I just mean I do not want to do it the way you did). As a novice I found it VERY useful.

I did find that aisle width is critical, if you want to have guests “passing sidings” are essential (I know, a pathetic attempt at railway humour). I understand the desire to put the most railroad into a constrained space, it is something I am considering.

I would like to thank everyone for letting a total stranger into your homes, I really appreciate it. Hopefully one day my layout will be on the tour.

I just got back from the Doubleheaders Tour today. This was my first time on the tour. It was well worth the $5 fee! I saw 10 HO layouts and agree that it is great to see things I would like to incorporate as well as see things I don’t want on my layout. Great to see some layouts in progress and see how people do things. I also want to thank everyone for opening up their homes! It is MUCH different to see permanent layouts in people’s homes vs layouts at shows. I would highly recommend the tour for anyone in the Greater Toronto Area next year! I’ll be going back for sure!
