Known detours because of the floods

Decided to start this thread for the known reroutes/detours of trains around the flooding in the midwest.

CP Rail-milwaukee to portage, tracks are out—detours over BNSF from chicago to La Crosse

any other reroutes/detours are welcome

Paul

CP is also detouring via the WSOR through Madison to Rondout, and via the I&CE through Sabula, IA. The BNSF detours are running via Galesburg thence McCook to the IHB.

Heres whats goin on right now.

On the Aurora sub you got Amtrak 7 at Mored, Amtrak 8 nearing Savanna. CP has the F-LAWCHC at Rochelle and on the Barstow sub is F-MCILAW nearing Savanna.

what i gathered from hearing on the scanner is that the CN is holding all Southbound trains at Fond du Lac. I know the area just got nailed with massive amounts of rain and they are getting hit again as i write this

Fond du Lac is too far south for any reroutes or detours

Paul

CP also ran a eastbound detour F-LAWMCI to the IHB at McCook down the Chillicothe Subdivision and a second F-LAWCHC on the Aurora Sub, so there were 4 total detours down BNSF yesterday. CP is detouring by using four routes, the BNSF Chillicothe and Aurora Subdivisions, the WSOR to Madison as well as IC&E. Sounds like UP was having to detour some trains down the BNSF Chillicothe Sub to the connection at Edelstein due to the flooding in Iowa. Maybe CN will have to detour down the IC&E and BNSF as well, things could get interesting on the racetrack this weekend.

Just got back from Fond du Lac and there was only 2 trains around. A452 (from yesturday) was getting his train together (southbound) and a 119 or 199 looking train was parked at the north end of shops yard, all units shut off.

Around Neenah, 3 southbounds were parked. Southbound on the Shawano sun, one on the main at Neenah with some rust on the wheels, and one more in the Dixie siding.

Looks like nothing has moved…just heard someone getting a slow order to go over mp 179.46, that was where the CN put an engine and 2 cars on its side

So far, I haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary on the Chicago-Aurora “racetrack”, but due to the detours, I am keeping my eyes open. I’ll post if I see anything different.

Did everyone see the rr bridge, I believe in or around Cedar Rapids collapse with the empty coal train on it to help STABILIZE it ! DUH ! How you gonna stabilize anything with that much water moving over, around or thru it?

If you missed it ,it was AWSOME ! to see all that steel just buckle and fall into all that water,no telling how deep or fast it was moving…
