Lackawanna "Interstate Express No. 1306, July 1954

I have an old Lackawanna timetable dated July 24, 1954 and have a question about the Interstate Express. The NB route is via B&O, Reading, and CRR of NJ. The timetable list Sleeping Car Philadelphia to Syracuse, Reading coach from Phiadelphia to Wilkes-Barre. The timetable notes “No coaches between Wiles-Barre and Binghamton.” Did the train only haul the one sleeping car and some headend cars between these two points?

Second question. When did the Interstate Express end?

Thanks!

Basically, as far as passengers were concerned, yes. Of course there was a coach in the train for the crew and deadheads. It ended in the mid-late 50’s with the elimination of passenger service on the Syracuse-Binghamton line. Incidently, the train did not go to Scranton on the DL&W but rather to Taylor where the CNJ received it or handed it off…Taylor yard is now a CP yard.
