large blue plastic water sheets

i searched all local hobby shops and all of the stores including arts and craft stores. i need a 24 x24 inch sheet of blue plastic. nobody has them and all hardware stores do not have it. redoing a pop up area is not a option it is a pop up area with tight confines in the area space is at a premium. stapling and gluing them is also not a option. any ideas?

Trying to understand what your referring too.

So, you have a 24" square area of simulated water, using a blue plastic sheet, and it has come loose, or poped up, and you want to replace it?

Mike.

check with someone that does stained glass. Might be easier to find than plastic.

Maybe a plastic specfic store, like TAP Plastics. Or a sheet of plexiglass painted on the bottom. Plexiglass of different thicknesses can usually be had and cut to size at the big box home improvement stores.

Painting a clear sheet is the easiest way. Plus lets you control the blue tone to closer to what you want

I’m not sure where you live but when I need something like that I go to S and W plastics. You might have a similar business near you.

Try a local shop that makes signs for businesses.

It’s not as simple, but it’s not much more work to “pour” a pond using a piece of plain styrene, some paint and an epoxy resin like Envirotex Lite.

Jfb,

May not be the shade Blue You want, but ask or get a clear and spray the backside to the shade You want. There are other Mfger’s out there…Google’s Your friend.

I think I understand what you are referring to. These were made mainly by European manufacturers like Noch, Busch, and Kibri.

.

I have not seen one as large as you are requesting in years.

.

This might require some luck to find.

Here’s another one…price is rather steep. It is Textured Plexiglass clear sheet with what they call Adobe finish…looks close to water texture. Paint the backside with the color You want. Give them a call…maybe You can get a deal:

Semi-transparent 2’ x 4’ acrylic sheets can be found in the suspended ceiling area of a builder’s supply store:

Some are smooth, some are prism (but you can flip it over) and the example I linked to is called “cracked ice” which is sort of a random pattern.

At least the price is fairly reasonable.

This is a piece of “Cracked Ice” acrylic that I sprayed with some transparent Testors tint. Yes, the color is pretty intense but it is only temporary until I make the final water “pour”.

i seriously checked everywhere all hobby and craft plus hardware stores. i never saw anything close. i need exact names of the suppliers around chicago il.

You don’t have a Home Depot near You? In referance to Gmpullman’s post. At least You could take a look at what He suggested and see if that would work for You. You click on store locator/finder at top of page once You click on the link He provided, for one near You…You insert Your zip code…easy.

Here’s another You can check out…Northside of Chgo:

http://petersenplastics.com/materials/acrylics-and-polycarbonate-sheet/

There are virtually hundreds in the Chicago area. Use a google search…

Type in ‘‘Colored Acrylic Plastic sheet suppliers in Chgo area’’ and take Your pick.

Good Luck! [:D]

the bottom line is that home depot has nothing. the manager checked the stores around the 3 states around me for anything close. so any other suggestions?

You have lots of Lowes stores in Chicago land, try them! They have a lighting dept. like Home Depot.

I personally would cast my own water, instead of searching for the plastic with the specific texture your looking for.

Where did you get what ever your using now? and what happened to it, that you need to replcae it?

Any pictures of what your trying to do?

Maybe look for lighting supplers ?

Maybe the plastic supplier Frank linked you to.

Mike.

Yeah,…click on the link for the one on the Northside of Chgo or do the Google search as I suggested.

Good Luck! [:D]

EDIT: I don’t know who You talked to at Home Depot but I just looked for it and the Home Depot in Countryside IL. has 24 of them instock: What Gmpullman suggested:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/OPTIX-23-75-in-x-47-75-in-Acrylic-Cracked-Ice-Ceiling-Light-Panel-1420084A/100556123

Countryside is a South west suburb 19 miles from downtown Chgo.

Still not clear what the OP is looking for.

Supposedly a 24’‘x 24’’ Blue colored plastic sheet…We are assuming it is for a water scene. That’s one of the problem’s with threads like this one…people would like to help…but when an OP does not participate or answer any questions, that makes it even harder. I’m about ready to give up Myself…

Take Care! [:D]

i check back once day for suggestions only time is of the essence. this is for a pop up area so it has to be plastic on cardboard. this is a lake and a rather large one think lake michigan gary to chicago. i had a piece before but it was used for other lake river pop up areas. i now have no large amounts left of the material. i checked all hardware stores and arts crafts stores in person for 3 days straight and talked to managers it seems to be obsolete in large amounts. i am leaning torwards a dolar tree shower curtain on foil and cardboard.

Well I guess the “cracked ice” light fixture cover is not what he’s looking for.

Lets us know how the shower curtain and foil thing works out [%-)].

Show us some pictures!

Good luck,

Mike.
