The locomotive is an 0-8-0 rebuilt from a 2-8-0.

Isn’t there a KCS steam engine at the DeRidder RR Museum in DeRidder, LA? Or is that another RR"s engine?

There are a couple of Louisiana and Arkansas locomotives that have been saved including the one in Port Arthur, TX which has been painted up as a KCS loco, but this is the only true KCS locomotive that survives.

Too bad we cannot get a KCS Steam Engine for here in Kansas City, either at Union Station (at their little railroad museum) or out front of the KCS Headquarters.

The DeRidder engine is a former Texas & New Orleans (Southern Pacific) 0-6-0, the 124.

I too believe it’s an 0-8-0 wheel arrangement.

Apparently the “little museum” at Union Station in Kansas City doesn’t even want their KCS diesel locomotive, seeing that it hasn’t been at Union Station for almost AN ENTIRE YEAR.
