Layout ideas.

Probrobly going to move soon so I am going to have to scrap my layout, and I was wondering about doing a strange prototype, a(n) interchange between Candian National and CSX, was wondering if any of you know of a prototype for this kind of layout, and if anyone has done this, what is a good track plan for a shelf layout of this type. The size has not been set yet, and I would like to “Proto-Lance” this layout. It would be a HO layout, with DCC. Any ideas?

Your layout doesn’t have to exactly be a prototype. Here you specifically model after the prototype exactly.

PROTOLANCE is a combo of “PROTOtype” and “freeLANCE”. Here you kinda run as to some possibilities that MAY or MAY NOT have existed on a prototype with your freelance ideas.

FREELANCE is just your imagination or created Model RR.

For example, I protolance B&O and all after incarnates {C&O, CHessie, CSX}. I change out equipment and some buildings to represent certain eras to fit the layout. I say protolance as I also allow for the B&O to give trackage rights to the beefy Pennsylvainan locos with the big square-topped Belpaire Fireboxes. I LIEK the Pennsys, and actually finally DID find out the B&O DId, indeed give, Pennsy trackage rights in some spots!!! SO I can STILL be as real as the Prototype.

YOUR IDEA is not far off the mark! read on:

Hi Sam,

So you’re on the move, you are scraping your layout. Fair enough, but if there’s room in your move to take a few bits, save what you can.

I’d to scrap a 15 x 12 footer, but in the time I had I managed to take up some points(Switches) and motors and rescue a couple nice buildings. The new layout was built to be protable 4ft x 2ft ( to fit the car) that was getting on for 30yrs ago, now they’ve got to 5 x 2.5 (bigger motor) but can still be dropped in a weekend.

Shelf layout’s a good starter, done a couple. One is on wall brackets with the odd bolt holding it to the wall, the others are on locking A frames. Which make em easy to move, go for it and good luck.

Be in touch.

pick.

I’ll probrobly try to save my switches ( pecos are expensive!) and some biuldings.
