“Sounds like a plan!”
Two thoughts: (1) You have justification for a nice tall bridge if one fits your space - the N&W “High Bridge” over the Appomattox River just east of Farmville was 125 ft above the river and was a single-track steel deck plate girder design on steel supports. (2) This may be way ahead of the game, but with an interchange with the Clinchfield, recognize that Bachmann’s “N” 2-8-0 is really close to Clinchfield Class H-4 Consolidations. I have one of the Bachmann HO consolidations serving for my connection with the Clinchfield, and I think the design is the same in both scales. These 2-8-0s were built in 1909 with 57" drivers. The last 2-8-0 on the Clinchfield was #304, which left for the scrapper on September 28, 1953. (Clinchfield info source is James Goforth’s When Steam Ran the Clinchfield.)
