Layout plans?

Does anyone know of any layout plans that are online that feature a 5x9 two tier system? I am looking to change my 4x8 single level layout into something a bit more realistic and spread out (the current layout is cramped because I wanted to make different scenes based on tracksides). I want to maybe have a two track lower level (industrial/rual area of town) and the upper level more of a town with commuter trains, etc. I have a few switches and such that I would interconnect all these tracks, but I just want to see if theres some reference point from where I can begin.

Have you looked at Thor trains http://www.thortrains.net/index.html

I don’t know of any on-line, but O gauge Railroading mag, a few issues back had an awesome reproduction of a Lionel showroom layout that, I believe was about 5x9and two tiers—awesome. It used 36" radius track–whick is what fastrack is. others may know more. The author of the article is a contributor to OGRR mag–Jim Barrett.

Check it out.

Thanks, I’ll have to try to get a hold of that or look it up online…

Check out some of these.

Thanks yet again… I kind of like the 8x8 from 1961 shown on there… Doubt I have the space for it, but definately leaves me with some ideas to work with.

Can’t answer your question, but I will say I was really pleased with what going from 4x to 5x allows you to do. That extra foot really makes things happen. You’ll be pleased whatever you do.

I researched 4x8 plans to get ideas for the innerloop and used the extra foot for an outer loop.

I stumbled across some really nice 5x5 plywood at the lumber yard. No cuts and a reasonable size for handling.
