Layout update with photos (at Fergmeister's request)

Here are some progress shots of the layout.

Looking so good. Need to see it some day.

About Time!!!

Though all good things take time.

Looking good Elliot.

NICE!

It does look good Elliot!! It looks like you’ve been awfully busy lately making progress, and it shows.

Noah

thats cool!!! Tim

Come on Elliot, who si helping you? You know that little lady is doing most of the work…hahahahaahahha

Sorry Ferg, 2 days late and 2 dollars short.[;)]

Art, you have my number, anytime. Open invitation to anyone who comes to town. I just had one of the guys from the CTT forum over a couple weeks ago.

***, it’s been all me lately. I’ve been meaning to call Gary A. He was helping me for a while.

Thanks all!

looks great . man that’s a lot of wood ! nice to see that you have enough track laid to be able to have some fun

Oh my gosh. Unbelieveable, Elliot. I’d love to know your stats: radius, room size, track lengths, etc. This is O scale right? Three rail?

Amazing Elliot! You’re meaking me envious!
All I need is some spare time & I’ll be able to continue on with construction.

When’s the addtion being added? [;)]

PS, Liam says Hi!

I’m getting very close to being done buying wood. Maybe 2 more small trips will fini***he the upper deck on the third peninsula, and some other odds and ends around the room.

Actually, I think the last time I posted an update was when I got a loop running, about 6 months ago. Been tinkering with a bunch of stuff in the meantime, including:

  • ballast (kitty litter)
  • painting rails
  • installing electromagnets for uncoupling
  • getting the mainline around the second peninsula
  • finishing raising the floor in all of the aisles
  • nearly finishing the second peninsula upper deck
  • starting backdrops

Jxtrrx, you are correct 3 rail O. The room is 46’ x 38’, and that plan is only the main level. The upper level won’t be as complex. There is about a 500’ loop of working track, including double track on 810 degrees of helix, and 180 feet of hidden yard. Minimum radius is 36". Lower deck is 30" above the raised walkways, upper is 60", and the walkways are 12" above the concrete. Two towns have operational track too.

Gordon, I don’t need more real estate.[:0] I am actually working in stages. The next goal is to get the mains around the second peninsula and remove the 5’ section of temporary track, which has the pink foam under it in the photo.

I have a nephew named Liam. Say “goo” to your’s for me, and just remember, if he says goo back, he doesn’t want that sticky stuff from Walthers. [swg]

Nice job Elliot! Don’t be so stingy with the pictures in future we love the progress you’ve made. J.R.

Thanks J.R., but if I post photos too often, it becomes hard to see the progress. At least the progress feels slow from my perspective, because I see it all the time. Sometimes I look at the dates on the photos, then I say wow.

I have a little secret that helps with motivation sometimes. If you can find a copy of Great Model Railroads 2004, Andy Sperandeo’s editorial entitled “Make it a habit” basicly spells out that little bits of progress add up over time. I enlarged the text, and have it hanging above my computer monitor.[8D]

amazing, great progress.- james

Whoa! Can I come to your house and play trains??? I definately have a case of envy here. That is a great space and some great work so far. Keep on posting!

Absolutely incredible! I knew from your plans it was going to be huge, but it is fantastic. No wonder you haven’t been around much. VERY Good, Elliot.

the plan looks great, now you need to rename the ol’ Plywood Pacific!

Grayfox I help him in the best way I can…I let him go down and play whenever he wants and give him a little nudge every now and then.

Plus by reminding him of all the train time I never complain about and a little bit of the doe eyes[:X] I get my own rewards.[;)]
