layouts

It is permanent but the legs are bolted on so I can remove the legs and move the layout if need be.

Since I am still in College and plan on needing to not lay deep roots for the next several years, I classify my layout as “Movable” meaning that all sections are easily dissassembled fro transport and moving. but I need to keep it mobile so I can take it with me. What I have now is the nucleous of a vast and expansive layout. Starting out not quite unlike John Allen’s Gorre and Dapheted railroad which started out as a simple 4 foot by 6 foot trackplan. My plans are just as grand, although more prototype driven.

How about adding another category to the survey, Movable for those of us with 4x8’ or smaller layouts which can be moved as a single unit.

My layout is sectional so it can be easily disassembled and reassembled in case I decide to move.

My 2 1/2’ x 5’ layout isn’t modular, but it isn’t permanent either.

Mine’s currently a couple of 4x1 boards - bolted end to end to give an 8x1 layout. It’s modular in that it disassembles for transport to shows and if the space it occupies is needed for other things. I’m planning another 4x1 board as an extension that will be used as part of the layout for shows and as a diorama/display/storage shelf at home - something to park locos and cars that will not go back in their original boxes due to either being too long post-assembly or due to detailing parts. I’m planning to move the layout across the room onto a set of storage cupboards which will hold all the stock, parts, etc. I do need to sort out the electrical connection between the boards - looking for some suitable plugs and sockets as the ones currently in use are unreliable and have more contacts than are really necessary.

OK everyone, we have a new member his (or her) name is “ERROR”???

oh yeah I have a perm. layout. But what does that mean? If I move it will be torn down and rebuilt elsewhere. [:)]

Currently I am all modular…since I belong to a modular club. But my eventual layout with be semi-modular.
