Hello,
I have a Lenz system that runs excellent with locomotives with programmed addresses,But for some reason I can’t reprogram existing address on the program Track which is isolated from the layout.I’ve read the manual 5 times
and gone through the simple wiring with a meter and everything checks out fine. Now you know its no fun to operate all my locomotives with a factory address of 03,If someone has been through this Give me a shout please,I,ve emailed Lenz and i’m waiting to here back,Thanks
Hi Folks,
Nobody responded to this but it got some interest,So I heard back from Lenz The same day,Debbie from Lenz was excellent and they troubleshot my system by phone and determined the MRC Tech 2 I was using as a power supply to my system was powerful enough to run trains but not enough amperage to program,Now my system 02/4 is old by today standards,So Lenz has a great upgrade offer. For a $50.00 fee plus my old system and $7.00 shipping will totally replace my 02/4 for the latest set 90 system complete,Debbie was great to work with and Folks you can’t beat that offer,So Here’s a strong Vote for Lenz and do consider Lenz for your 1st or next DCC system.
Brian
Did Lenz offer a different option for the Set 100 as an upgrade from the Set 90? The difference between the two is the hand-held throttle. The 90 has a large analog speed dial, and the 100 is all digital. I’ve got one of each, and I never use the 90 unless I’ve trapped myself in the back of the layout where I keep it.
The 100 throttle is much easier to use. Things like programming decoders and consisting are all much simpler. Also, the 90 throttle will only store 8 locomotive addresses on its “stack,” while the 100 will hold 32 (or maybe more, I forget.) Also, when switching from one locomotive to another, the 100 “just does it,” while on the 90 you have to match both direction and speed before you complete the cutover.
Other than that, though, I’d agree that the Lenz is a great system.
Thanks for the info Mister ,you know I wasn’t offered a 100 keypad in the offer,And I’ve found the LH 90 to be comfortable,But the features you’ve mentioned are tempting. At this point I think the upgrade and the service and 8 locos at once will be fine.At some point I’ll buy a LH 100 But you know once the ballast was done and the scenery started taking shape I was having a Blast buying all these scenery details and adding buildings/Trees/Vechicles,Etc.Theres so many aspects to this hobby and being away from it for 10 years Just the fact that there is DCC brought me back into it.I sure others fell the same. But the weathers getting better here and soon it will be time for The Harley Davidson again,But you know this hobby sure made the winter fly By.Thanks Brian
