Many railfans don’t like the loss of nostalgic names such as the SP, CNW, WP etc. This is understandable however a unique situation happened with the BN and ATSF they merged survived being killed, to me they are the same two great railroads who conquered the great mountains of the north or the scorching deserts of the southwest. I guess what I am trying to get at is the that the spirit of innovation and quality of service that was so apparent in both companies still exists today and that the legacy of the great men who built the two roads is still there, they just use a different name and use a different color. Honestly I do like the old paint schemes but I also like the new ones. So yes in some respects the merger was the loss of friend to some but it was the begining of a new one as well. I like many others want to work for them and follow in the footsteps of great men. Also if there are some fandom spelling mistakes please try your best to ignore them virtual keyboards can be a pain. Just my take on the whole thing.
I sure like your attitude, BNSF, with your appreciation of the past at the same time that you have your eye on the future. Truly, the second Golden Age of Railroads beckons, and good luck to you in being a part of it.
It helps when you try to have a positive outlook and when you like the color orange [:D]

That’s a good way to look at it. Like I say the SF part of the name is for SLSF. I have friends who told me they say Big New Super Frisco or Been Nothing Since Frisco.
At least the Frisco ROW is still alive and has trains running on it, even if it’s the A&M on the old tracks in AR. Not like the Katy who had their tracks tore up for the Katy Trail that runs across MO. And other roads suffered the same fate
I can still go and watch trains at the old Lindenwood Yards where Dad worked. It may look different because his office is gone, it’s now called St. Louis Hub, the old diesel shops are gone and replaced by Intermodel setup with big crane to lift the trailers. But a lot of it looks the same too, even if I can’t get onto the property any longer.
