Let's Do Railroad Stations

Here’s the roughed in scene at Tucker Hollow. The flag stop depot and water tank are nestled in a tiny valley on my Cedar Branch & Western RR, a freelanced Ozark short line.

The station is complete, but the scenery is in flux.

I know there is a lot more out there, like Corey, it’s good to see the creativity, and it encourages beginners who might be intimidated by some on this forum, not to participate.

Here is another station my wife gave me and I like it very much.

Passengers await for the K-4 to arrive.

So if anyone wants to share more, please do so.

Great thread!

The Penny Lane station:

Above ground at Saint Anne Street:

And below ground at the same place:

The seldom-seen Scollay Square station:

Ooh! I love the stonework. What did you use?

MisterBeasley:

Great shots and look at some of the others, man, great Amtrak station and the night shots. These are really good and creative pictures.

Thanks,

I bought a piece of artificial honeycomb from a bee guy. I used that to make an impression with modeling clay, and then used the impression to make a latex mold with WS Latex. Finally, I took the mold and made Hydrocal castings.

The bee guy loved the idea, as he was an O-scaler at one time. I got so psyched that I ended up buying a set of WS Beekeepers for my layout.

MisterBeasley, I haven’t seen pictures of your subway in what feels like years. It’s that “something different” that is nice to see every once in a while. Great work!

Nice job everybody else. It’s certainly fun for me to see how others have used the same kit that I chose. Very different versions of it.

Anyone else?

Here’s my favorite station, The BR&P/B&O station at East Salamanca NY as it looks on our layout:

And here’s the prototype;

And my painting of it:

My father and I both worked out of it, he was the last B&O Agent there, and I as a conductor:

Here is my Prairie View depot…

Stan, that’s some amazing modeling there! From the few model pictures it looks like you’re spot on.

Wow!

Lots of great modeling!

Here is a small branch line station I built from scratch. It has yet to visit the spray booth except for priming the paper roofing (and I think it is getting tired of waiting - so am I[(-D])

Here is an Atlas Station with extra shelters and interior details. I put the posters inside before I realized that advertizing of that sort would not likely be present in passenger stations. I will remove them before the station hits the layout. Again, I am behind in the paint department.

Stan, the model, the original photo and the painting make quite an impressive package. Very well done!

Charles:

What a wonderful station, as are the rest, but I have to admit “Hawks Nest” is most interesting. It shows what one can do with simple techniques. This is how beginners can be encouraged.
