The holidays are upon us and while Lionel O gauge is moreso the traditional train under most American’s Christmas trees. Many of us have moved up to G scale or LGB under the tree. Mom loved this when I made the transition, thanks to my aunt and uncle gifting me a LGB starter set. It was quieter, didn’t run the risk of getting gear oil/grease on the living room carpet(her big concern). While in my current small home, we are not able to set up a big tree anymore(just a small tree in the bay window). We do have a loop of LGB track around the ceiling that has my smaller trains one it, from the LGB Stainz with a few cars to a Kalamazoo 4-4-0 with custom decorated passenger consist. Mike
Hi Mike!
I don’t have a holiday layout per se, just the 4-4-0 I kitbashed, pictures in the " Rock’in it" thread. I also have a Polar Express boxcar in G, and a " Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer " train, based on the classic Rankin Bass characters. It runs on a gauge slightly wider than G. Go figure…
having some issues with posting pictures, unless I add them to an existing share site I have.

Mike,
I put some pictures in " Rockin" of the other battery operated trains, including " Rudolph".

Mike,
We have a handful of items that only make it on on the Triple O from Advent through Epiphany. We also run a small loop around the tree. As the tree is outside, though, that loop is very simple to allow the dogs to step on it!
I dropped the following on another forum, but I will repost it here to spread the cheer! I tried to write this in the style of the Oahu Rail and Land Company’s advertisments from long ago…
The Oberammergau, Ogden & Olomana Railroad (the famed “Triple O”) and the M&K Sugar Co. are again pleased to offer festive rail services from now through 6 January 2023 as part of your Advent and Christmas traditions!
Pride of the Triple O, North Star, is ready to carry passengers in first class comfort. North Star underwent extensive engineering maintenance over the summer, ensuring you and yours a comfortable Holiday experience on the mainline of the Triple O.

The STAINZ is actually an “100 Years of EP Lehman” loco, but, with that tender (a local find) it easily becomes a Christmas train! I wanted to peel the sticker off, but that got a resounding “No!” The train cars behind it are a set of Kalamazoo cars I picked up for a couple bucks a couple years back. I really like them, as their short bodies look good on our tight curves. Unlike the tender or the B’mann cars, they get service all year as there are no Christmas markings on them. I have vague plans to do something with the Kalamazoo cars, but everyone seems to like them “as is.”

Eric,
many times I save kit bash/ modification projects for equipment that needs repainting due to fading or damage. Or things that would otherwise be thrown out. These cars look fantastic in their current state.
