Lets see your logging power

More photo fun, lets see your logging power. Posted below is mine roster of Mallet and Geared power. First up is my NWSL Weyerhaeuser 2-8-8-2 #201, followed by another import from NWSL, Rayoniers #8. Then we have an old Baldwin 0-8-0, also from NWSL. Last up is one of my two PFM/United Climax engines, this one is my 3 truck. I also have an unpainted 2 truck but its in pieces awaiting a new motor. I used to have a few of the plastic models, only the old AHM/Rivarossi Heisler was any good. The rest suffered broken gears not long after purchased and with a lack of parts from the company, they were sold at shows as parts sources for others. Took some time, some horse trading and upgrading to get to this point. But I have enough power now, all brass, to run my logging railway. Both the parent company(Weyerhaeuser) and the little off shoot that has the old Climax engines(Turtle Creek Logging Co.)

My outdoor logging power

Indoors, a K-27 is typical power handling logs to Rockwood and ties and poles to the treatment plant in Alamosa. Here is 454 on the spur to Camp 13, the highest point reached by rail on my layout.

Lots of logging power on and off the current layout - here are a few shots that I can find easily:

HHRR fivespot at Groveland - PFM Longbell 105

Pickering #12 at Mather - Spectrum shay with details

WL #5 at mountain King (now relettered for HHRR #6) - Spectrum shay

Not pictured - Sierra 38, Weyerhauser 201, Kosmos 11, PFM Climax, PFM 2 truck class B Shay, Deep River #7, etc… Some are awaiting paint or re-motor etc…

Guy

Nice pics guys. I am still getting by on old open frame motors, but Canon 3200 rpm cans are sitting waiting on shaft sleeves to fit the stock worm gears on. Todays pic is from a local railfan, he has caught Turtle Creek Logging 3 truck 70 ton Climax #1 home bound for Railroad camp with a box car of supplies, a new Cat dozer, an empty gon and a tank car loaded with fuel oil for the lokies to refill thier bunkers in the morning. Hogger is eager to get home and had her “scorching” the rails at 12mph!
