This post is mostly for folks in the Toronto area but this may be available elsewhere.
I walked into the Chapters bookstore on John St. yesterday and near the front door was a big pile of a book called “On the Move Great Transportation Photographs from Life” remaindered at $2.99 (Cdn of course)
It doesn’t just have trains of course but there are some wonderful pix from the steam era, the Chicago yards, a passenger train in the mountains, the New York el on 9th Ave.and two middle aged men building what looks like an O gauge setup in Berlin “The Berlin Train Society 1931” by the great Life photographer Alfred Eisensadt.
Also other pix from that era (Route 66 for example) for anyone looking for prototype examples
