Lionel 027 and Flyer both 1:64 scale?

Would Flyer accessories look good on a 027 layout then or are they just a smaller more scale 1:64 compared to lionel 027 equipment?

I guess the first question is are you talking O27 as in postwar or are you talking the newer trains of like today that are more to scal size. Reason being it again depends what you have as some postwar acually look great wit Af items as they acually have smaller cars thanothers I’m talking like the scout items and then you have 6014 boxcar and all which are lot smaller than your 6464 series and all.

with all that said I have seen some great looking lionel layouts with all AF buildings and accesories. and some mixed it all depends how you do it I would say. Also as my wife says if they don’t like it she will show them where the door is lol. Basicly I’m saying if you like it and you think it looks good why not. I new a guy that used all matchbox cars for his ( not the king size either) and it looked good as they were all the same size.

but to answer you title no Af is 1:64 and lionel (depending which trains your using) is 1:43 or 1:48 or 1:50 (last being scale from what I understand or been told)

Hope this helps

(I am sorry for thoes postes I acendtly hit enter insted of shift) Flyer is not O it is S a compelty different scal. If you are doing a Hi rail layout they would be a little small but if it is a toy train layout they will not look to out of place. O and O-27 are the sam gauge just different hights. I hope that ansered your queston. (I am sorry for any speling erros my computer does not have spell check in the form typeing)

O27 follows no real scale. The widths, lengths, and hieghts are not always proportional to each other. Geeps are close to 1/48 but boxcars are more like 1/58. K-Line did an O27 big boy in 1/64 across the map. An Allegehny followed and was more like 1/58 proportionally.

The American Flyer accesories would look great with te 027, but I am very partial to American Flyer

Yes they would. I’ve got the barrel loader and Gabe the Lamplighter (MTH version) on my Lionel layout. Flyer’s semaphore and crossing flasher are better proportioned than their Lionel counterparts.

Thanks for the input all. The reason Im asking is I want a diner in my collection but being a postwar lionel collector, I am disapointed to find out they never made a diner other than the plasticville one.

Ive been deciding between 3 items. A prewar lionel 442 diner, a postwar American Flyer Branford Diner, and a modern era diner from the 1990s (the madison car style one not the new congressional style).

The prewar seems like it would be expensive but is from the old lionel corp. The Flyer one isnt lionel but it is postwar, and the modern is best looking but doesnt fit my collection. Im leaning towards the flyer Branford diner but never saw it on a lionel layout.

Thanks!

Here is a few shots of my AF Diner

Hope this helps

In reply to what somebody else mentioned K-Line made some Train 19 frieght cars that were very close to S gauge in size with 027 truck assemblies on them, two examples are the K-Line # 6028 & 6030 labelled for Pennsylvania RR. These boxcars look too small for even 027 and look like I could put S gauge trucks on them and be correct for S gauge.
