I am new to trains and have recently acquired a Lionel 259E Engine. The engine runs fine forward but will not reverse. I have taken the shell off and the E-Unit has several wires disconnected. There are two (pig tail shaped) wires at the back of the unit that are disconneced. Should these be connected? At the front there is a wire that has broken away from some soldering. Should this be resoldered? There is a copper wire coming from what I believe is the drum. Should the resoldering connect the copper wire with the broken wire. I hope I have used the correct terms and anyone’s help will be appreciated. Also, I haven’t any soldering equipment. Recommendations for that what also be appreciated.
This should have everthing you need. Check page two.
