Hi! I am not getting any sound from a Lionel Legacy NW2 (product# 6-83391) , that I am currently working on. Would anyone have any tips to get sound working again? Everything works properly except the sound. Thanks! Brad.

I have heard about some issues with the CW-80. Perhaps there is some incompatibility. I would try a different transformer to rule that out.
If I recall correctly, the CW-80 has an imperfect waveform–i.e., something other than a sine wave. Also, I think that certain early ones were out of phase.
Yes, I heard that Lionel briefly discontinued and redesigned the CW-80 in 2006. One issue was a failing cooling fan causing the electronics to overheat. I have also heard about a choppy sine wave like this.
That’s what I was referring too. That waveform is almost as bad as the spiky mess that came out of my remote control dimmer!
