I was just wondering if the Lionmaster Big Boy is a good engine? Good smoke? Good Railsounds? Good starting & constant speed? Any differences from it and the Legacy Big Boy? Any pictures or vidoes?
IMHO, No O guage locomotive is worth over $1000. I would spend that much on a set, but not a single loco. Besides, I only like traditional, not scale. [:D]
I have both of the BB, Lionmaster and Legacy, both run great and smoke really good and sound fantastic. The Lionmaster is scaled to 0-27 rolling stock and is very fast. Faster then the Legacy BB. Legacy BB has better smoke, maintenance lites that come on when the engine is stopped, 4 chuffs per revolution,lit number boards and is just built really well.

Try a Lionmaster Challenger then. Had mine for a couple years & not one problem. Great smoke, great sound, plenty of pulling power. You might get one for under 600 bucks now. I did.
HOLY SMOKE, I never thought anything that ran on 3-Rail O-Gauge would ever DWARF my LionMaster BigBoy, I know that it’s not scale, but it ain’t little either. Laz, I haven’t seen the Legacy and LionMaster side by side before, that thing is a MONSTER, no wonder it needs O-72 curves. I know that Steroids aren’t legal in Pro Sports, but they obviously are in model railroading. Looks GREAT Laz, maybe one will eventually find its way to my collection, but I think that my next 3 major purchases are going to be the Scale FEF’s and the Scale GS-4, but I will definitely keep the Legacy BB in mind in the future, THANKS for the pics Laz.
I have the MTH RK Big Boy, Really like it. It’s a real good runner, smokes well. Sounds could be better. But no complaints. Also have the new Lionel scale BB. It is truly “Outstanding” I think it is out in standing in a field somewhere in Michigan. Hopefully will be back this next week.

Not fair, the lionmaster is at a height disadvantage because of fastrack vs. tinplate track…That makes it look smaller than it really is height wise. But even if it was the same height, I would expect it to be slightly smaller in the height area.
One advantage the lionmaster has over it’s scale big brother is that it can do much tighter curves and looks great on all wide curves.

Added myself to the list for the Lionmaster BB 6-11208 this weekend. The steam whistle on this thing was the feature that pulled my wallet out of my pocket. July is going to seem like an eternity.
One gigantic note here … The Legacy Vision Line Big Boy is going to cost you up to a whopping $ 1,695.00 … now is a few sounds and maybe 1 or 2 more added little features worth around $ 1,000.00 more … your choice [2c] Plus you’ll need the legacy control system to have all the features operational … which does add quite a few functions to the Lionmaster Big Boy TMCC selling for around
$ 400.00 also . The standard Legacy Big Boy can be had for close to $ 750.00 - $ 800.00 on Ebay . So read and check this out if you already have a legacy system and see if the extra
$ 1,000.00 is worth adding to the price . You may opt for buying a Lionmaster Legacy Big Boy instead of 1 Vision Line Big Boy . I have been watching ebay for the last couple of weeks and have seen people pay about $150.00 less than what a 2010 Lionmaster BB would cost. These were BB about 5 years old slightly used or new in the box. For a $150 more I would rather have the new BB with Legacy and the Vision Steam whistle which will work in conventional mode.
I pre ordered mine for a $144 less than suggested retail price with free shipping. I think that is a good deal.

Thats right! You need to do your homework when train shopping! Preordering from a Charles Ro or a Trainworld will yeild a much better deal than going down to the corner shop or even ebay in most cases, as far as a brand new loco is concerned. There are also a few shops like Sidetrack hobbies and Grzyboskis trains that have some older Lionmaster challengers on the shelf still in the shipper at great prices,Lionel had releases of these every few years with improvements each time. Check Lionel. com with the part # for details. I bought a Lionmaster cab forward from Sidetrack Hobbies for just over $600 bucks brand new! Further online searching could find others sealed on the shelf as well. I found both the Lionmaster Hudson and Class A released in 2003,last fall brand new!
