Lionel searchlight tower bulb tower

i have a 6-12899 search light tower…one of the bulbs burned out…any tips when it comes to replacing it?

Here is the owners manual for it. Page 2 gives instructions.

If it is the newer light bulb you pull the bulb straight out of the socket. For the older, post war style, light towers you have to unscrew the bulb.

Can you tell me what bulb I can use in a postwar searchlight tower? The original bulb is missing and it has a screw in type socket. This is the tower with a single clear lense.

If there’s no Lionel dealer in your area with replacement lamp, try a Radio Shack (if there’s any left) or a well stocked hardware store. Those screw-in bases are pretty standard for everything in that size, you just need a bulb in the 8 to 12 volt range, even a little higher than 12 volts won’t hurt.

Good luck!
