I saw last night where Lionel train sets are the number one selling toy on ebay for Christmas. I am sure the Polar Express has helped out quite a bit. This does bode well for the future of the hobby!!! I think it is great. What these kids today need are toys to fuel their imaginations, not all the shoot em up games on computers and other games on computers. Don’t get me wrong, computer games are fine and my sons loves them. It is just that toy trains bring out the imagination in kids so much more!!
I fully agree with you, although I like playing games on the PS2, I think trains give that little extra; smell, 3D vision and sounds…
Besides that, a toy train is a technical piece of art, and a game is a flat disc, saying nothing spectacular untill you put it in the gamecomputer… And even then 5 out of 6 games don’t make the expectations one has about them a reality…
I too agree with you. When I was a kid we played outside and built things with nothing but the stuff we found especially tree houses and such. To trains along with the battleground set made for hours of great fun. Still do!
Keep those flanged wheels turnin.
