Lionel U30C Diesel 18292 And 28292, One And The Same, Or Different?

Please, can anyone tell me if the G.E. Chessie System diesel #3312, made in 2002, with Command Control was made as a seperate/single only unit, but with two Lionel item numbers: 18292 and 28292, or as two different engines, or is one a powered unit and the other one is a non-powered unit, but with both having the same road number, or a misprint, or am I misunderstanding Greenberg’s listings?

Lionel catalogs make no mention, the ineter.net does not have any info. and Lionel’s Customer Service was unable to give me an answer. I know that this is a trivial matter, but I would like to know.

I have asked some others, using the Greenberg guide for Lionel Trains, 2007 Ed., for their interpretation and we cannot understand the guide’s listings for the aforementioned engines.
Please, look at page 198, it shows 18292 for $340.00 in excellent cond; and look at page 246, it shows 28292, similar engine description, for $300.00 in exc. cond.

I would appreciate if anyone can answer my question.

Thank You, In Advance,

Ralph

I would assume that the 28292 is a misprint.

Doug,

Thank you for your answer. I believe, you are correct.

I couln’t find any answer, before posting on this forum.

Merry Christmas,

Ralph
