Little People

I have a question for all. Where do you get your Little People at a Rock Bottom Price? I have all the “Bully” Charactors which fit my Layout and have been looking, but the ones available are to costly I think.

I get mine from Ridge Road Station, Holley NY at http://www.rrstation.com

Otherwise I use the LHS and get what’s on sale. Keep in mind that anyway you slice it, G scale figures are not cheap like HO.

Good luck!

Homies can be inexpensive when found at Wal-Mart or Kmart. Just make sure you get the ones in the appropriate scale, because they come in different sizes. They can do a lot to add interest to a scene. They can also be painted or bashed in other ways, such as placing tools in their hands

I too watch for sales. Another place I found them was at WalMart. They had an assortment of The Fast and the Furious cars for $5.00 Canadian! Each car came with a figure. Great deal. Later eh…Brian.

I make them.

I get mine from RRstation too.

Making them is cheap…I can get quite a few figures out of 99 cents of sculpey…

Torby Do you use Sculpey or Fimo or something of the sortlike TheJoat?
do you use a wire armature or something inside???

TheJoat Do you use a wire armature or some internal support???

Absolutely! Check out the figure class chapters (there are now 3 of them!) over at http://www.mylargescale.com/articles/articles/. Chris Walas has done an excellent job of teaching how to make these figures in various poses, with great step by step directions. It does take practice, but it’s a lot of fun.

I have purchased several of the “Homies” for my railroad, but my mother told me to remove the vatos, rucas and pachucos from a rail road named after my wife and daughter.[:D]

There are a couple of them that look like me with the fedora hat and the facial hair.

There are a few others as well, saddly, I do have friends that look , or try to look, like these people.

TheJoat Thanks for the link! Do you have pics of your people?

Originally this Homie was holding a cell phone. I removed it and substituted a lug wrench made from a piece of brass rod and plastic bead. Then I sprayed him with a flat coat of lacquer. A brass rod inserted in one leg with the other end in the ground keeps him in place.

Do you find that the flat clear-coat makes them more…realistic? I have concerns with the quality of the plastic.

Capt Carrales

I use foil armatures like in the figure classes at mylargescale.com. I like the idea of phone wire and I have a hunk of that laying around here somewhere… somewhere… somewhere…

Also, my creativity has been involved in something else of late. Don’t worry, it’s train related[:-,] Ok, here it is: http://www.gardentrack.com/facillity/facillity.html If you’re looking for something interesting to do, might I suggest making figures out of polymer clay[;)]

Well, that’s most of them so far, but you can see more over at my website: http://www.jbrr.com/

Capt., this is the way the Homie looked originally and you can see that he was way too shiny. The flat coat does a lot to improve him. He has been outdoors since last July through all sorts of extreme heat and cold and is still doing well.

P.S., tell your mom that I have all the respect in the world for my Homies!

Bill C.

TheJoat Nice work! I like the suits.

what is the size of the homies you use i’m in 1:20.3 and what size are the cars and trucks you use with the homies jmozz

Jmozz, that would be 1:24 on both counts for me, so they would probably be too small for you.

Bill

My wife picked up this little set for our grandson. The people and signs were to small for him so I get the people and signs, he gets the trucks I thought others may be interested. The whole set was $10.00 US at a Dollar General store. They ar eabour 5 1/2 in. tall.
