Loco Diagrams

Where is a good place to find diagrams of the following engines?

All Alco Centurys
All Morrison-Knudsen(MPI) engines
GE UxxBs
SF30B and C rebuilds

And where is a good source of information on the GP7 and GP9 variations?
Thanks.

Eric

For the Alcos, Railroad Model Craftsman had a series on them going intermittently from May 83 to March 85 ( C420-May 83, C628-June 84, C630-Aug. 84, Hi-hood C628 & C630-Oct. 84, C636-Jan. 85, and C415-Mar. 85). These articles had scale drawings in addition to a lot of good information on the Century line.

You can find diagrams on Alco Centuries and GE U Series here: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/manual/manual.html

Not to be picky but do you really mean a diagram? That is basically a minimal drawing showing features of the engine or do you mean a drawing showing the details? Most of those have appeared in the modeling magazines over the years. The Diesel Spotters guide would be a good starting point for the GP7, GP9 question but I doubt anyone has ever published the complete guide to all the modifications that have taken place over the years. Those engines are now approaching 60+ years old and are still going strong. Who would have thunk it?

Maybe I meant drawing.

What I need is the black & white images showing measurement of the engines.

GP7/9: I was hoping for something with the most info on variations.

Hi again.

Where could I find drawings of the various GP40P locomotives?
GP40P, GP40PH, GP40PH-2, GP40-H2, etc.

And would a company that builds or rebuilds a locomotive be willing to share a drawing for modeling purposes? There are some I’ve looked for but cannot find so I’d like to know if anyone has tried that before asking any companies.

Thanks.

Start by going to the Index of Magazines (link at top of this page) and looking up the individual models you’re interested in. If you don’t have access to the individual magazines, post on the forum which ones you’re looking for and see if someone has it.

I’ve gone through the index and gotten a list of some that I’ve looked for. The GP40P types I’ve found articles on painting and such but none are listed as having drawings of the engines. Mainly looking for the GP40P for CNJ and the later GP40PH-2 used by NJT and CDOT.

Also looking for accurate roster infomation on railroads. Found some websites but sometimes the information is contradictory. For example, this site lists L&N 1534-1582 as U30Cs.

But this one lists them as U28Cs or C30s.
