I’m looking for a couple of books, by I believe Kalmbach Publishing. I think they were called, Locomotive Builders Cyclopedia, and Passenger Car Cyclopedia. I’m not quite sure on they exact names though. R Staller
Model Railroader Cyclopedia, there were two, Steam locomotives and Diesel locomotives. Check either Kalmbach or E-Bay.

I have the Kalmbach Model Railroader Cyclopedia Vol.I, steam and it is great. I am not familiar with a passenger car cyclopedia from Kalmbach. Back in about 1948, Model Railroader/Kalmbach put out a Santa Fe locomotives and cars book of scale drawings.
Carstens back in the 1970s used to sell individual scale drawings and groups of drawings of passenger cars, mostly lightweight streamlined. I don’t read RMC regularly and don’t know if they are still available.
Then there is the “Train She Cyclopedia” series, reprints for modelers of portions of the professional railroaders’ prototype cyclopedias…Published about 20 years ago, still available at train shows once in a while.
Yes there are the Train Shed Encycopedias, numerous volumes covering both passenger and freight cars.
Carstens currently has a three-volume series on passenger cars, the third volume just came out in the last year I believe.
Considered by many to be the bible of passenger cars
The American railroad Passenger Car parts I & II.

pricey but definitly worth the money.
Don’t forget that if it is streamlined cars you are interested in there is the fifteen volume Pullman Standard Library and the seven Volume Budd Library that also covers SLC and AC&F cars.

while you’re in google books, look for Baldwin Narrow Gauge Locomotives Catalog. There’s also a myriad selection of railroad structures, mining catalogs, logging catalogs, steam shovels, etc. HINT: limit your search to ‘Full view only’ to get complete books
