locomotive maintenance shops

Does anyone have any pictures of loco motive maintenence facilities or car shop facilities. I have seen the one at the B&O RR museum ut i would like to see more. Thanks

Cheese3,

In that case I think you’re going to really like this link:

I use the photos as reference as I’m going to be modeling a diesel locomotive service facility building, with fueling and sanding racks outside.

Enjoy!

Thanks for that link antonio. There are great pics there. I would still like more so I can get some more ideas.

I have found plenty of pics of service facility interiors at railpictures.

You do have to search around a bit since they have tens of thousands of pics, but its not hard to find examples.

Here’s a few pics I took last month of CSX’s repair shop in Wyoming, MI.

Thanks guys. I have a few ideas storming around in my head[:-,]

Nice to see a GP40 still in Chessie. I do wish that there were more of the Chessie paint, they’re getting scarce.

If you want to see a back shop up close and personal, take a trip to Steamtown or Strausburg Railroad in Pennsylvania. Both places offer a tour of their back shop repair facilities. We did these tours when we visited PA a couple of years ago and they are worth the trip if you are in the area. The catch is they run the tours at noontime when the work crew is at lunch and they limit the number of people on the tour. Strausburg limits to 6 or 8 people, if I remember correctly. During busy times, you should arrive early to buy the ticket. [tup][tup][tup]

Chessie… Feh.

Long live Wild Mary!
