After over 100 days shipspotting around the world (my main hobby), I did a little train spotting in Santa Apolonia Railway Station, Lisbon, Portugal.

The Molli train is great. Very authentic.

It is amazing as it travels down the main street. A journey to experience.

My wife was at a conference in Edinburgh. I spent a couple of hours in Dalmeny

On a visit to Caernarfon, North Wales was a Garrett locomotive
Although the locomotive was at the end of the line (so to speak), the tunnel straight ahead in the first picture, was where trains continued to the old station.
The tunnel is now a walkway for pedestrians in the town.

This is my last post for some time as we are to travel the world.
Trains across part of Europe to Italy.
Travel by ship to U.S.A. and see my family.
Train across Canada
On a ship to Australia
Travel on trains and trams in Australia
On a ship to Durban South Africa.
Trains to Cape Town
Ship home

That should help me to build up my portfolio of pictures.

To the Junior Moderators who love to tell me what and where to read, but not post, I have been around and preserved more 1-1 railroad items than you have had hot dinners.

To the one that says ‘I am bragging’, we will be travelling in the ‘Owner’s Suite’ on ships owned by my family.

Rock on David! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::+1:. Can’t wait to see your photos when you can post them! Be safe, be happy and I hope you enjoy every minute of your trip!

Just a quick question, are the Mary Valley Rattler and Indian Pacific on your itinerary? I couldn’t imagine visiting Australia and not experiencing those trains!

The Indian Pacific is on our itinerary, Penny.
Must go to Melbourne and Adelaide as we have family there. Then Sydney to Perth

Very nice overnight train from Melbourne to Perth. I got to ride the cab (of one of the Alco PA lookalikes) between Melbourne & Albury, and could have stayed longer except my berth was calling…

Apparently the train now uses XPT equipment, even though it supposedly makes more stops than I remember… scheduled time about 11 hours now:

Listen carefully to the apparent rigmarole involved in reserving sleeper tickets.

We are in no hurry. Apart from the Canadian and Indian Pacific we will be travelling on trains in daytime. My good Lady and I wish to see as much of the countries (we visit) as possible.
