Why manufacturers make locos that will run alone? Athearn made the Amtrak California FPH59I, but not the Surfliners cars…so?
There could be several reasons to include low sales of a given road name…You see the cars could have been planned and due to the low sales of the locomotives the cars was canceled.While checking Athearn’s web page I notice several F59PHI road names has been discontinued.
Maybe they didn’t want to deny you the opportunity to explore the joys of scratchbuilding! [:-^][X-)]
Atlas made the AEM-7 in SEPTA livery (legally) about 4 years or so after Walthers got sued? for making SEPTA monacred Horizon Fleet cars. Why did Atlas make that engine when essentially no cars were out there for it? (Yes they made Amtrak and NJT schemes as well but why in SEPTA?) Anyway I bought the engine and thankfully I got my hands on some Horizon undecorated cars from Walthers, painted them and added Septa LRV Trolley striping to them to make them look like Septa Fleet Cars. Look pretty good, added step lights to them all also and head/tail lights in the cab unit with DCC control. Hopefully you can find a comparable car to decorate yourself to match the engine.
