Lombard Hobbies - A Chicago Area LHS

I had lunch today with two old buddies in Schaumburg and decided on my way back home to make a first time visit to Lombard Hobbies, a LHS in the western suburbs of Chicago.

I stumbled upon their website while surfing the Internet looking for some passenger cars.

The store is pretty good sized and offers great discount pricing.

If you live in the area or plan to visit Chicago, give this place a look.

Here is a link to their website.

Lots of locos and lots of rolling stock, freight and passenger.

I always make it a point to visit their booth at TrainFest. They always have great prices on Katos, especially on Sunday.

Mike.

Can they move to Nortern Va ? We could sure use a couple more LHS around here !

I may be making a hop to Chicago in the spring. I usually stay at a place called the Deer Path Inn up in Lake Forest. I’ll put it on my list of train related “things to do” in the Chicago area. I may have a couple of days to kill while I’m there. Can’t [zzz] all the time.

You got that right! Lots of folks driving Mercedes and BMW’s. You’d think there would be a decent shop but so far I haven’t found one in 3 years. I have to go to Timonium or mail order.

Main Line Hobby is usually my go-to place. Blue Ridge Summit, PA isn’t exactly Northern VA, but it’s probably about as close to you as Timonium. And a much more pleasant drive.

Since Timonium comes 4 times a year, and I can probably get better deals there, I’ll stick with that - works for me.
