what happened t othe 1880s??? as you might no i swicthed to N scale but was in Ho for a while i bought 1 of those units in Conrail paint. It is as loud as a athearn no directional lighting runs goood not to fast. what more do you want for $$27?? Tim

I model Buffalo and Pittsburgh at the Club. What do I want for $27? An Atlas Gold Master.

My B&P Geep

Chipo, I’d avoid these, and buy one of the new Atlas MP-15’s, I saw one at an LHS a week or so back in G&W paint and I was tempted to buy it.

These sometimes have shoddy running characteristics, require a good detailing, hardwire decoder. Basicly view it as a BB that comes RTR.

my friends gp9 works great and yours looks great

The only problem is that B&P dosen’t have any MP-15’s. They have a bunch of SW1500s and even a NW2. They have GP7s and 9s and a stray SD 40.

great for the price. I have two of them. One had some noise from out of balance flywheel. I called Walthers and received a new motor with flywheel NO CHARGE. Great service.

So, good got the money, but noisy like Athearn?

There not to bad, I own a few of them and have had good luck with them. They run good, but are a bit weak on details, good loco for $27 though.

good for the money, have not had any trouble with them. own several.

wHERE DO YOU FIND THEM FOR $27. I PAID $39 APIECE FOR TWO OF THEM AT THE LOCAL HOBBY STORE.

I have three of the Walthers GP15’s. Same mechanism, different shell. I wish I had bought more of them. The three that I have are quieter than the Athearns that I have. Plus they come with directional lighting, something that you have to step up to the Genesis models to get from Athearn. Just my [2c]

I found mine at train shows for $26, seems like every show I go to you can find them between $22 up to $32.

Good runners, fat shell like the Athearn GP7. Not a bad buy at $USD 27 if you don’t mind the wide hoods.

Overall, they’re about on par with a BB - I’d say go for it - it would be a good dependable workhorse for club use, for sure.

Good runners but FAT body.
