Tried Ebay without much sucess. Anyone know of a hobby shop that might have a shell for sale, or perhaps have one you want to get rid of? Drop me a PM. Thanks.
Are you looking for a specific brand of shell? Like Model Power, P2K, Tyco, Hobbytown, etc.?
There’s a Hobbytown metal E7 body on eBay right now, but it’s an older one, so the detail isn’t spectacular. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Hobbytown-HO-Parts-EMD-E7-E7A-Shell-All-Metal_W0QQitemZ190327860584QQcmdZViewItemQQptZModel_RR_Trains?hash=item2c506cad68&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116)
EDIT: There’s also an AB set of metal Cary bodies for the same price, which are better than the Hobbytown. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Cary-Locomotive-works_W0QQitemZ320412535907QQcmdZViewItemQQptZModel_RR_Trains?hash=item4a9a134c63&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14) If you don’t want the B unit, you could always sell it later and get some money back.
Be patient with Ebay and one will show up before too long.
Simon my friend, if you could use a E-6 Proto shell you got one. It is undercoated and and still has all the detail parts the last time I looked. More than likely Crisp has all ready uncover it the last time you where here! [:D] Crisp is one of his son’s and went bench diving the last time he was here. Netted him self a FP-45.
If it has to be a E-7 shell, you can have the Santa Fe War Bonnet one that Crisp liked while it was at your house.
I am off Thursday and Friday.
Ken
Thanks for the suggestions folks. I am going to steer away from the Hobby Town type shells. I have a Hobby Town E7 and love it for its heft and old technology. It can pull stumps out of the ground. I have an affection for it, because it represents a different age, and is just wonderful for what it is, but it is not the direction that I want to go with this.
Ken I dropped you a PM about getting back together now I am back from my travels.
